Five Things: Friends

Everyone’s favorite TV show, well at least it is my favorite, “Friends“. I have watched all 10 seasons of “Friends” on Netflix over 10 times now and I can never get enough of it. Being such a huge fan of the show, I always wanted to know everything about the cast, producers and the show overall. This show has some interesting facts that the fans do not know. Here are 5 things you did not know about this amazing TV show, Friends!

1. Courtney Cox was suppose to play Rachel.

Both Courtney Cox and Jennifer Anniston were confused once receiving their scripts as to who they were going to play in the show. After reviewing the lines and talking to the directors they both decided that it was best for them to switch characters. It was a very difficult move for them to do this, since Jennifer barely made it. Jennifer was actually the last one to be casted and I could not imagine the show without her in it.

2. The cast was payed fairly equal.

None of the cast members ever made more or less money than another. They all started out making $22,500 per episode and ended up making $1,000,000 in the last season, per episode. Also, all of the cast member had an equal amount of jokes throughout the whole show.

3. The show’s name was not originally “Friends”

The show had multiple possibilities of not being called “Friends”. Some of the original names for the show were “Insomnia Cafe”,”Across The Hall”,”Friends Like Us” and “Six of One”.

4. Phoebe was not originally going to be played by Lisa Kudrow.

Phoebe was originally going to be played by Ellen Degeneres, but she turned it down because she wanted to leave the acting business. Phoebe is my favorite character of the series, and even though I love Ellen, Phoebe could not have been played by a better actress.

5. Chandler and Monica’s apartments changed numbers.

If you haven’t noticed in the first few seasons of “Friends” both Chandler and Monica’s apartments changed number. They changed from 4 and 5 to 19 and 20. The directors realized that it was impossible for a New York building to have apartments numbered 4 and 5 in an upper level.
