Selena Gomez: It Ain’t Me

Selena Gomez and KYGO have finally released the video to their hit song “It Ain’t Me“. I have been completely obsessed with this song ever since they released it. With a touch of club, house and pop beats this song has taken the charts as number one for months. It is something very different from this former Disney channel star, which is why I believe it has been so popular recently.

The video starts off with a couple that has had a motorcycle accident which led to them both being in the hospital bed. Unfortunately, the girl passes away and she sings about how they can no longer be together. At the end of the video a butterfly appears on the guys head, as he is still in the hospital bed, symbolizing the girl.

Who’s gonna walk you
Through the dark side of the morning?
Who’s gonna rock you
When the sun won’t let you sleep?
Who’s waking up to drive you home
When you’re drunk and all alone?
Who’s gonna walk you
Through the dark side of the morning?

People are not happy with the fact that Selena is not in the video, and I agree. I believe that every artist should at least appear in the music video because fans want to be able to see the artist sing the song, especially if it a hit song. They are also disappointed at the fact that the girl dies in the video and is nothing like they expected. When listening to the song you would expect it to be about how a girl moves on from her ex, but instead it is about what a guy is going to do now that his girlfriend has passed away. Comments such as these were left under the official video on Youtube. “The video ruined the meaning of the song”,”Once again another popular song of Selena’s and she is not in the video”,”This music video is nothing like I have expected!”.

“It Ain’t Me” is one of my favorite songs from 2017 but this video does not work well with the song.
