Thursday night one of the most expected Netflix series has finally been released, and I’m already obsessed with it! I’m talking about 13 Reasons Why. This mysterious series is based on the New Yorker’s best seller book 13 Reasons Why by the one and only Jay Asher. This book and series tells the story of Hannah Baker, a high school student who committed suicide because of her classmates. Through the book/series we learn how each one of her “friends” played a part in her death. She leaves behind a box full of tapes which she recorded right before committing suicide. In each one of these recordings she explains what each one of her “friends” did to her, that made her commit suicide.
This series is full of mystery and you’ll always have to watch the next episode to know what happened the previous episode, if that makes sense. For example, Hannah had a really close friend named Clay, who is also in the tapes, and in episode 2 they show a small clip of them having sex… But we have yet to know why? When? Where? How?… Did this happen. I guess we will have to keep watching to find out.
Being a huge Netflix fan, I was very much excited when this series was announced because it seemed like something that many people would enjoy, especially if it is based on a book. Many people like when books are turned into movies, series or TV shows. But I was also very scared to be disappointed, and I’m extremely happy I wasn’t, so far.
This has been one of the best set of cast members I have ever seen from a Netflix original series, of course right after Orange Is The New Black. The actors are really good, and I cannot complain about any of their acting skills. I usually look very closely at acting skills once I am watching a movie, series, or even just a TV show. Dylan Minnette, who plays Clay Jenson, is doing a phenomenal job!
I recommend this series to people who like horror, to people who are obsessed with not knowing what is going to happened next, and to people who love to watch episode after episode, none stop. This series will have you at the edge of your seat wanting more.
